I purchased this tinted moisturizer to use on the days that I didn’t feel like messing with foundation, but wanted a little coverage. There are only 4 shades to choose from, 1 through 4, and I chose 2 because I thought 1 might be too light, but 2 was too dark for my fair complexion. The scent is nice, but I felt the consistency was too much like foundation instead of tinted moisturizer. I felt like it didn’t really moisturize. I returned it because this just wasn’t what I was looking for and it was too dark. Maybe if you are looking for a tinted moisturizer that is more like foundation, this would work for you, but it didn’t work for me at all. I’m giving this product a rating of 2 out of 5.

I received this as a free sample. I’m glad it was free because I didn’t like it at all. I’m trying to find an evening cleanser that will make my nighttime skin regimen a little easier. I thought this cleansing water would do the trick, but it didn’t. It smells lovely, but it doesn’t cleanse very well. It definitely didn’t remove my eye make-up or mascara either. So I used my eye make-up remover first, then tried this cleanser but it just doesn’t work. It also leaves a sticky residue. I thought maybe it would go away, but it didn’t. I felt like my face was still dirty after using this, so I had to wash my face the traditional way. Because of the scent, texture, and gentleness of this product I will give this product a rating of 2 out of 5 stars. If I was just rating on effectiveness, I’d give it 1 star.

Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss

I’ve received two samples of Clinique’s Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss. Lilac and Ginger were the shades, and I really like them both. The color is subtle, the texture is thick, and a bit sticky, but it lasts for hours if not eating or drinking. This is a non-shimmer gloss, but it’s definitely shiny! You can wear it alone, or over lipstick for a pop of shine. I really like this gloss, but would like it more if it wasn’t sticky. I’m giving it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

Clarins Gloss Appeal is a lovely lip gloss that isn’t thick or sticky in the least bit. I have the color ylang and it gives you transparent color that is light, shimmery and beautiful. It has a teardrop shaped applicator, so it’s very easy to apply. It lasts for a decent amount of time too. I would say a good couple of hours without eating or drinking. After applying this lip gloss, it feels more like you’ve applied a lip balm than a gloss. I would definitely recommend this lip gloss. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I received this as a free sample with purchase, and I wasn’t expecting much. I tried it a couple of weeks ago because I was going out and didn’t want Casper legs. I was a bit nervous to try a self-tanner for the first time right before I went out because I didn’t want Sunkist legs either, but I bit the bullet and did it. I was SO very pleased with the results. I couldn’t believe it. The first thing I noticed about the product itself is that it actually has a pleasant scent. Most self-tanners reek of, well, self-tanners. That’s the main reason I avoid self-tanners: I can’t stand the smell. Anyway, not only does this product have a nice, light scent, the texture is amazing. It really is like mousse or whipped cream. It’s absolutely amazing. A little bit goes a LONG way and it absorbs like magic. After it’s applied, the self-tanner smell does come out a little bit, but it’s not bad at all. After about a half an hour, the color really begins to develop. It’s a nice golden hue, but not dark. I’m sure with continued daily use, the color will probably go darker, but I don’t want to look like George Hamilton. The results you get are a very natural golden glow. You almost shimmer, but not in a glittery sort of way. This product is a self-tanner, moisturizer, and SPF all in one. I would definitely recommend this product. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If Clarins could get rid of the self-tanner smell all together this would get 5 out of 4 stars.

Maybelline Lash Discovery Mini Brush Mascara

As you all know, I’m on the lookout to replace my favorite discontinued Elizabeth Arden Twice As Long Mascara. I decided to try Maybelline’s Lash Discovery Mini Brush Mascara because the brush was similar to Twice As Long; however, the product itself is nothing like it. The formula is VERY wet, so it has a tendency to clump my lashes together. I can’t stand that look. I love soft, full, separate lashes. Anyway, this mascara is good at finding baby lashes because the brush is quite thin and small, but when it finds them, it just clumps them together. It’s unfortunate, but I’ll have to keep looking. I’m giving this mascara a rating of 2 out of 5 stars.

Almay ~ Triple Effect Mascara

I purchased Almay’s One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect from my local Target not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The scent is fine, the formula is a bit drier and thicker which I love, and the brush has half long bristles and the other half is composed of shorter bristles. You use the longer bristles first to create length and separation, then you immediately switch to the shorter bristles for volume. I couldn’t believe the results I got from a drugstore brand! I’m really impressed. It doesn’t smudge or flake, and it lasts a long time. It’s also pretty easy to remove. Your lashes feel soft and pliable, not hard or stiff. There was no irritation either. Again, I’m really surprised and impressed! Of course, your lashes could always be longer and thicker, so I’m going to rate this 4 out of 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this mascara!

I purchased the Extra-Comfort Toning Lotion to go with the Gentle Foaming Cleanser. The toner is alcohol-free with plant extracts and is formulated for dry or sensitized skin. Again, this has a strong floral scent that I don’t care for at all. I didn’t really notice any benefit to my skin either. It’s definitely gentle, and doesn’t irritate or sting my skin, but I can hardly stand the lingering floral smell. Plus, without a great benefit seen from use, I definitely won’t buy this product again. I give this a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.

Philosophy’s Just Release Me dual-phase oil-free eye makeup remover is a very good product. I really like Lancome’s Bi-Facil makeup remover, but Philosophy’s Just Release Me is just as good and costs less. It’s not hard to figure out which one to buy. It’s dual-phase, so you need to shake it gently to combine the two phases together just before use. It removes makeup well and fairly easy. I have yet to find a makeup remover that requires absolutely no rubbing, but this stuff works pretty darn well. Like I said it’s right up there with Lancome’s remover. It doesn’t sting or irritate eyes, nor does it leave a greasy after feel. Just right after use, there is a soft residue leftover, but it absorbs very fast. I really like this product, so I am giving it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

Today I am reviewing Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Shea Butter for Dry or Sensitive Skin. The first thing I noticed is the scent. It has a very strong floral scent that I’m not that fond of. The color of the cleanser is like clay or putty. The texture is thinner, but very creamy. It foams nicely and cleanses fairly well. It doesn’t dry out or irritate my dry and sensitive skin, but I feel that it doesn’t rinse away cleanly. I do feel that there is some residue left behind. It’s okay. I don’t hate it. I don’t love it. It’s just average. I’m rating this 3 out of 5 stars.
